Mike is still traveling around the country and NOT back in Philly quite yet, but instead reporting from Las Vegas! Being away from home he still scoured through our inventory to find some of his favorite watches we brought in this week. The main story of the day is focusing on the return to trade shows and the questions they raise. The chief one on everyone in the industry’s mind is what is the reason behind the price spikes we’re seeing on various models. Mike attempts to break down what he sees as the driving force and explains how demand from new collectors and a rapidly expanding pre-owned market are creating rising prices across the board.
The other bit of news is from Tourneau as they announce the name change of all stores to Bucherer, which Mike uses as an opportunity to further discuss the ever-changing luxury watch landscape and look back at the heyday of retail shopping experience. He ponders what the future will hold for the industry as the trend continues to the digital world.
