Rolex prices across the globe are beginning to spike and Mike Manjos is back in Philly trying to make some sense of it. But first, he highlights some of his favorite pieces we brought in this week including the Rolex Submariner "Smurf" (116619), A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Moon Phase (384.029), and the Jules Audemars Chronograph (26100BC).
The main topic of the night focuses around the increase in Rolex prices over the past couple of weeks. This rise seems to have begun in Daytona models with both steel and precious metals models beginning to spike through the roof. Mike is joined by Josh Srolovitz from the Hong Kong office to explain what he's seeing in Asia. Josh points out this trend has been going on for awhile and has now spread to other Rolex models include Day-Dates and Oyster Perpetuals.
The Rolex talk leads into another sector of the market seeing a rise in activity: independents. Whether it's Journe, Moser, Gronefeld, or others, all seem to be benefitting from increased exposure as watch collectors seek out models off the beaten path. Manjos ends the show with highlighting some pieces we're looking to buy including the Cartier Privee collection, Franck Muller Chronographs, and the Lange 1 model.
